Charlotte Owes Me Nothing!

About three weeks ago I launched this blog. The first week I was great about posting but since then I’ve been completely inconsistent. I feel really guilty about that. But what I feel more guilty about is feeling guilty that I’ve been inconsistent because I took some time for ME.

Yup, that’s right, mommas. For the first time in a long time I threw caution to the wind and my kids to their grandma and did what I wanted to do and not what I needed to do. And now that I am back all I have to say is that they city of Charlotte owes me absolutely nothing. Let me tell you why.

First and foremost, let me start by saying that my husband and I drove to Charlotte from Boston and I HATE road trips. Disaster, right? NOPE. The drive down was actually smooth. I drove the majority of the way and I jammed and sang like Whitney Houston the whole time. We didn’t encounter much traffic at all, no accidents, no stray deers crossing the highway and we didn’t get pulled over. For me, that was a great start to the weekend.

Our airbnb was super cute and chic and even had a little boutique for me to shop from during our stay. Shoutout to Capri. Check her out at The Nartisse Collection for some cute fits ladies! After we got ourselves situated we visited one of my favorite places in the whole world. DOLLAR TREE! It was by far one of the cleanest, neatest Dollar Tree’s I’ve ever been to. They even had self checkout which is always a plus.

Next we headed over to the South Park Mall. This mall gave me Natick with a little bit of Prudential vibes. A mixture of bougie and regular folks all in one place. Speaking of vibes, if you’re ever in the Queen City a stop at 1501 S. Mint is a MUST. The drinks are strong, inexpensive and delicious, the scenery is amazing and the staff are friendly. The venue is indoor/outdoor so you can still catch a vibe and a good drink regardless of the weather. We love versatility.

The first night there we also visited Tattooz and Booz Lounge per the suggestion of our waitress at 1501. Again, a MUST visit spot. Unfortunately we didn’t have the luxury of getting tattoos during our visit but just the aura of this place screams GOOD TIME. The decor, the music, the drinks, the people. I have not one complaint. Nor did I have a hangover the next morning when we headed to the Waffle House on Independent. Shoutout to the friendly staff and delicious food there!

Delicious was a reoccurring theme in Charlotte. From Caribbean food at Crav'n Caribbean to brunch at Cuzzo’s Cuisine II, we ate GOODT the whole entire trip. I’ll admit, I was nervous to step on a scale when I got back after the way I ate and drank. You know what else was a reoccurring theme? Cute shoes and purses; two of my fav. Baybeeee, I was serving looks all weekend like a care free City Girl. It’s just something about the southern sun that makes me want to look purrrtyyy.

Last but not least there was Slingshot Social Game Club. I had no idea what to expect from this place but I have to say that whatever I was expecting, it ended up being way better. This place had EVERYTHING. Arcade games, bowling, drinks, a dj and dance floor, amazing drinks, outdoor fire pit, you name it. AND we got lucky and didn’t even have to pay for parking. There was no cover and no drama. The crowd was mixed and so wasn’t the play list. I think we had the best time by far during our visit there. I can’t wait to go back!

Listen, I don’t get to do much traveling like I’d like to due because of a number of reasons. I’m sure most moms can relate. So I will end this blog by saying this, no matter how much weight I gained from stuffing my face or how tired I am from all of the late nights, I am so happy that I took this time for ME. Thank you Charlotte. I deserved this. YOU deserve it too.

So where should we go next mommas?
